The Microscopy Core Facility offers a technology platform for the use of highly developed light microscopes. We also provide scientific and technical assistance for researchers to design experiments and to facilitate image acquisition and analysis.

Instruments already installed in the Core Facility offer capabilities in wide-field fluorescence imaging and confocal microscopy. We are also equipped to perform efficient measurements of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), fluorescence lifetime (FLIM) and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) experiments. We have a dedicated instrument to image large tissue sections and whole brain samples, and a light-sheet microscope will be available in the near future for similar purposes. We can also provide expertise and instrumentation for intra-vital microscopy.

The Microscopy Core Facility is in the process of substantial extension. In the near future, a number of instruments will be installed that will introduce capabilities for high content screening, super-resolution confocal imaging, slide scanner, and correlated light and electron microscopy.
