First Visit

Before starting the experimental work in the core facility a preceding discussion about the project is recommend for the analyzers and required for the cell sorter. This should help to avoid any expensive and time consuming mistakes from the start. The initial discussion is also an opportunity to incorporate new methods for project-related questions early on. Training is also intended to harmonize the level of education and to facilitate communication among the users of the facility. Moreover a project specific and individual training reduces the time to get the users “on the job”.

We, therefore, recommend the following procedure. First, you make an appointment with the core facility where we discuss the overall goals of your work and how to customize your experiments. When you have prepared your test samples according to the recommendations made during the initial meeting with the core facility, we will introduce you to the instruments making a basic acquisition setup with your samples. With this data we then will show you the possibilities of data analysis located at the core facility, thereby discussing any future recommendations for your experiments.

The Bonn Technology Campus also hosts an efficient user and data management. Registered user get access to a centralized data server, which can be reached from their offices and from the workstations in the Core Facility, that are equipped with the most common analysis software packages. Once the users are trained on the analyzers, they also get access to the online booking system of the Core Facility.
